FlashCards is designed for children and the families who support them. We built it to collect as little data as possible — in fact, the app collects no personal information at all. This policy explains what that means in plain language.
Information We Collect
We do not collect, store, or share any personal information about you or your child. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no profiles, and no analytics that identify you.
Microphone and Speech Recognition
FlashCards offers an optional Voice mode that lets a young learner answer math problems by speaking.
- The microphone and speech recognition are used only to recognize the number in response to a math problem.
- Speech recognition is performed on the device using Apple's built-in Speech framework (the app requests on-device recognition). Audio is processed locally.
- We do not record, save, or transmit audio. No recordings or transcripts are stored by the app or sent to us or any third party.
- Voice mode is optional. The app's Flip mode works fully without microphone access.
- You can grant or revoke microphone and speech-recognition permission at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security, or Settings › FlashCards.
Information Stored on Your Device
To show a simple practice history, the app stores round results (such as the operation practiced, the score, and the time taken) locally on the device. This information:
- Never leaves the device and is not transmitted to us or anyone else.
- Is not linked to any identity.
- Can be deleted within the app's history screen, and is removed entirely when the app is deleted.
Third Parties
FlashCards contains no third-party advertising, no third-party analytics, and no tracking technologies. We do not sell or share data, because we do not collect any.
Children's Privacy
FlashCards is intended for use by children with the involvement of a parent or guardian. Because the app collects no personal information, creates no accounts, and serves no advertising, it is designed to comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation including provisions for children (GDPR-K), and Apple's Kids Category requirements. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Data Security
Because FlashCards keeps all of its data on your device and transmits nothing, your information is protected by your device's own security (such as your passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID). Deleting the app removes its stored data.
Changes to this Policy
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and post the revised policy at this URL. Material changes will be reflected in an app update.
